Durban’s Victoria Street Market is a great place to visit, there’s lots of things to look at. I enjoyed pancakes for lunch there and bought a Zulu cultural outfit with shoes made from car tyres! Whatever you do guys, do not get spice in your eyes, that was not cool! This was a crazy day that I tell everyone about often. You should check it out.
***Not recommended to visit the muti market on your own, chat to Chris or Norma at www.blue-dolphin-ts.co.za and they can arrange a visit for you. They know a whole bunch of cool places in Durban and surrounds
*** Victoria Street Market has underground parking or catch an Uber to the front entrance.

The Victoria Street Market is known as the Vic to its vendors.
Browse over 170 stalls and you will find a uniquely South African eclectic mix of African and Indian products. The ground floor has a fish and seafood market, fresh meat, fruit, vegetables and spices.
The top floor is popular with international visitors, offering more conventional shopping for souvenirs, crafts, jewellery and fabrics. And if bargaining is your thing, at the Victoria Street Market not only is it fun, it is expected.

After 8 years, my family visited from abroad to find the following:
1. Warm Hospitality
2. Expertise in African Jewelry
3. Professional Salesmanship that is just perfect: Not overbearing at all and yet patient enough to imbibe all the considerations, deliberations and discussions regarding purchase.
4. Affordability for Excellent quality merchandise.
5. Advice on jewelry design
What a pleasure. Really the only thing that has changed is the Shop Location. It is these endearing qualities that brought us back in good faith after so many years and will continue to do so in the future. Much appreciated.

A must for those traveling to Durban and looking for handicrafts. Make sure to bargain, prices will definitely drop. Plenty of stalls from which you can buy and bargain. Prices for handicrafts and souvenirs are cheaper here than Johannesburg. If you are there on a Friday make sure to walk across to thensure ramp/bridge where local ladies showcase and sell their handicrafts. Awesome, wonderful, and beautiful display of handmade items. A must for ladies or if you want to gift your lady something unique and special.
